Unified Patent Court
UPC
The UPC is an important milestone in European patent litigation, enabling stakeholders to obtain remedies across multiple EU Member States through a single, streamlined litigation system. An infringement or revocation action can be brought before the UPC on the basis of Unitary patents and European patents.
Since its launch in June 2023, the UPC has become a key forum for high-stake patent litigation in all fields of technology. It is renowned for its efficiency, the quality of its judgements, and its speed—enabling parties to obtain provisional measures or final decisions at an exceptional pace.
La Gro is based in The Hague, home to the highly respected and strategically significant Local Division The Hague, with two Dutch Judges on the bench. Our team recently wrote the chapter on the Local Division The Hague in the UPC Chambers Guide (click here).
Since the start of the UPC, our team has represented clients in UPC cases (e.g. pharma and medical devices) at both the Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal.
La Gro actively participates in the UPC Bench & Bar Events that are organized approximately four times per year for UPC Representatives and Judges of the Local Division The Hague to exchange experiences, discuss new case law and developments and flag issues may require improvement.
Our team has also organised, moderated and served as panellist/speaker in eight international seminars and workshops on the UPC.
